Brisbane House Churches

This site will be dedicated to facilitating the planting and development of house churches in the city of Brisbane, Australia - and beyond! The aim is to create a resource pool for networking and equipping any disciple of Jesus Christ to join with the Lord in building a community of faith based in their own home.

Change of Meeting Times

We are now going to meet in McDowall at 2 p.m. We are also having a morning meeting for prayer and seeking God at 10 a.m. in another location. Contact us if you are interested to join in.

It is my sincere conviction that more prayer is needed and attention to make sure we are obeying the Lord fully before we can see a greater move of God's Spirit. Others share that conviction so we are moving forward.

It seems it is not yet time to move to the Southside or plant a new church there.

New ministry springing up

Its great to see some of the people in the house church starting to minister really effectively again. I am thinking now especially of brother Paul who has been coming along for a few weeks now, along with his family. Last night there was a group of about 5 different families or parts thereof and lots of children. Amongst other things, Paul shared about his experiences in preaching the gospel and talking with people on the streets of Brisbane. He also ministered on the guitar in leading praise and worship.

Such love and fellowship is developing - we don't want to leave!

Yesterday, on 3rd May we had another meeting, this time with 4 families. We discussed the issues of sanctification and salvation. I can tell you, the meeting went from 4 p.m. to almost 9 p.m., and we discussed over food, and prayed, and worshiped God. I am telling you, there is such a love and joy developing in our group, that no one really wanted to leave.

God is drawing more people together

It felt great to see 20 people in the group together today. There was such a beautiful harmony and love we were enjoying together.

By God's grace we will launch a second group shortly.

People are responding to the gospel

I want to praise God! You know, its such a joy to share the gospel with people. Last night (25/04/09) I was out with a friend in the Queen Street Mall with the express purpose of just talking with people about salvation and the reality of Jesus.

I was surprised by the receptivity. I got to talk with a wide variety of people - Hindus , unbelievers, backslidden Christians, one serious follower of the pagan religion and a young satanist of the Anton LaVey variety. All the discussions were actually quite fruitful.

Principles to Make your Home Church Grow

The Holy Spirit has been putting great emphasis on the use of small groups for discipleship, outreach and other purposes. This is not surprising, especially when you consider that there are so many commands in the New Testament relating to things we do "one to another". How can we love one another as Jesus loved his disciples (John 13:34,35) unless there is an environment in which close relationships can develop?

Should House Churches Have Leaders?

Over the years I have known people who believe that home based churches should NOT have leaders. I don't know where people get this idea from. Its certainly not to be found in the Bible. Even in the New Testament, there were all kinds of leaders - apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, elders, deacons. What these words mean may be explored later, but for now, lets observe that these kind of roles, as well as other ministry gifts, did exist in the church.

Power Evangelism in Brisbane has started as a trickle!

We want to praise God for what He is doing. God is faithful to His Word.

Last Saturday night (18th April, 2009) I was out with two other evangelist friends in the Queen Street Mall area of Brisbane. We found it really easy to talk with people. There were a couple of noteworthy encounters. One was with a young man who had a sulphuric acid burn on his hand. He was hanging out with a group of young people, some of whom were sporting all kinds of body piercing, rings through the lips and so forth. I think this man had some himself. No matter.

Contact Us

If you would like to network with us or contact us there are a few ways to do it initially. For privacy reasons we don't reveal the exact locations and timings of our meetings publicly.

We currently have meetings on Sunday at 4 p.m. on the north side of Brisbane. We have prayer meetings at various times and places also. Some of us also go out evangelising in public places one on one. Normally we do this Friday and Saturday nights.

We are also looking to offer "Christianity Explained" courses.
